Lumbar plexus anterior divisions (L2–L4)

Within psoas major the L2–L4 rami each split into an anterior and a posterior division. The anterior divisions unite as the obturator nerve for the adductor compartment; in about 10% a small accessory obturator nerve (L3–L4) also forms.
