Lumbar plexus posterior divisions (L2–L4)

The larger posterior divisions of L2–L4 form the femoral nerve, and smaller posterior twigs of L2–L3 form the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. Both emerge from the lateral border of psoas into the groove between psoas and iliacus.
