Gut lymph follows the artery of supply back to nodes at the roots of the three midline visceral arteries, and after a meal it carries absorbed long-chain fat as chyle.

Portal hypertension raising hepatic sinusoidal pressure
Hepatic lymph production outstrips the thoracic duct, producing ascites
