Instructions

You are an intern on the stroke unit. Arthur Lomax, 74, had a stroke three weeks ago and has severe aphasia; he cannot make this decision. He still cannot swallow safely and has pulled out his nasogastric tube three times. The team is considering a PEG. His wife Bernadette is his person responsible.

  1. Explain the feeding options and the management plan to Bernadette

  • You do not need to take a history or examine the patient

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
