Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in general practice. Your next patient is Ava Truong, 10 months old, brought in by her mother, Linh, because the child health nurse found her weight has fallen from the 50th to below the 3rd centile. Ava is asleep in her pram.

  1. Take a focused history from her mother

  2. Explain your diagnosis and management plan to her mother

  • You do not need to examine Ava; the examiner will give you her measurements if you ask
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you one question at the end.

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
