Station - Instructions for candidate
You are a junior doctor working in a general practice in Perth.
Nyibol Akol, a 24-year-old dental assistant, has booked a standard appointment. The booking note says 'wants to start contraception'. She is otherwise well and is not a regular patient of the practice. The practice nurse has recorded her observations before the consultation.

Your tasks are to:
- Take a focused history relevant to her request for contraception.
- Counsel her on the contraceptive options that are suitable for her, including how the method you recommend is used, its main benefits and side effects, and what to do if a dose or a method fails.
- Address protection against sexually transmitted infections and any other lifestyle issues relevant to her care.
- You do NOT need to examine the patient.
- You do NOT need to summarise your findings to the examiner.
- You are not required to write a prescription or perform any procedure in this station.
This is a 10-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
