Station - Instructions for candidate
You are a final-year medical student on placement at a general practice in Joondalup.
Karen Mitchell, a 45-year-old school principal, has booked in for a repeat prescription of her reflux tablet and wants to ask whether she still needs it. The practice nurse has recorded her observations and the medication list.
| Practice record | Esomeprazole 40 mg daily since 2020 for gastro-oesophageal reflux. Gastroscopy 2021: mild (grade A) oesophagitis, no Barrett's oesophagus, Helicobacter pylori negative on biopsy. No other regular medications. Observations: HR 74, BP 128/82, weight 82 kg, height 168 cm, BMI 29 (BMI 26 in 2020). |

- Counsel Ms Mitchell about her reflux medication.
- Discuss your management plan with Ms Mitchell.
- You do NOT need to examine the patient.
- You do NOT need to summarise your findings to the examiner.
