Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in general practice in Albany. Your next patient is Rhys Calloway, 13, brought in by his mother, who is worried he has become much thinner over the past four months.

  1. Take a focused history from Rhys and his mother

  2. Perform a focused examination

  3. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • Verbalise your examination; the examiner will give findings on request

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
