Instructions

You are a medical student on placement on the medical ward. You are asked to see Trevor Fraser, 84, who has dementia and was admitted after a fall at home. Two weeks ago his GP increased his amlodipine from 5 mg to 10 mg.

  1. Perform a focused examination to find the cause of his fall

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your findings
    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
