Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in the emergency department at Perth Children's Hospital. Your next patient is Matilda Trevaskis, 4 days old, brought in by her mother, Kayla, because she has been vomiting since early this morning and is not herself.

  1. Take a focused history from her mother

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations
  • You do not need to examine Matilda
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you questions at the end.

Examination

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
