Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in general practice. Your next patient is Lavanya Ramaswamy, 22, an engineering student whose eyes have both been red, itchy and watery for two weeks.

  1. Examine her eyes

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your findings
    • Your most likely diagnosis
  • You do not need to take a history
  • Please verbalise your examination; findings will be provided on request
  • You do not need to discuss management

History taken by the GP today

The itch is the main problem. The same thing has happened every spring since she moved to Perth from India three years ago, with sneezing and a runny, blocked nose. Eczema as a child. No contact lenses. Vision seems normal to her; no pain or sticky discharge.
