Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in the paediatric outpatient clinic. Your next patient is Flynn Gillespie, aged 20 months, brought in by his mother because he is not yet walking.

  1. Take a focused history from his mother

  2. Examine the child

  3. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • Please verbalise your examination; findings will be provided on request
  • Flynn is represented by a manikin

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
