You are a medical student on placement in general practice. Tanya Kennedy, 41, has had heavy periods for two years. Her pelvic ultrasound is normal. Her blood tests are back.

  1. Take a focused history from Ms Kennedy

  2. Explain the options and agree a plan with Ms Kennedy

  • You do not need to examine the patient

Results

Ultrasound: normal uterus and ovaries; endometrium 6 mm. Hb 112; ferritin 9. TSH normal.
