You are a medical student on placement in the maternity assessment unit. Your next patient is Phoebe Marchetti, 27, who is 39 weeks pregnant and presenting with tightenings that started overnight; her partner, Luca, is listening on speaker phone.

  1. Take a focused history

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
  • You do not need to examine the patient
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you one question at the end
