Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in general practice. Your next patient is Kiara Bennell, 3, presenting with tiny purple spots and bruises for two days. Her mother, Tamika, and her grandmother, Lorraine, are with her; Kiara is asleep in her pram.

  1. Take a focused history from Kiara's mother

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
  • You do not need to examine Kiara
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you questions at the end

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
