Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in the emergency department. Your next patient is Felix Henshaw, 2 years 3 months, brought in by his father, Callum, after his right hand was caught on the moving belt of a treadmill at home about an hour ago.

  1. Take a focused paediatric history from his father

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • You do not need to examine Felix; the examiner will describe his hand if you ask
  • Felix is represented by a doll

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
