Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in general practice. Your next patient is Rohan Iyer, 18 months old, brought in by his mother, Sunita, because he has had three episodes of stopping breathing and going blue. Rohan is asleep in his pram.

  1. Take a focused history from his mother

  2. Explain your diagnosis to his mother

  • You do not need to examine Rohan; the examiner will give you his findings if you ask
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you one question at the end.

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
