Instructions

You are a medical student on placement in the emergency department. Your next patient is Elias Galloway, 14 months, brought in by his mother, Liezl, after his childcare centre raised concerns about bruises on his legs and forehead. He has stopped standing.

  1. Take a focused history from his mother

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis and differentials
    • Relevant investigations
  • You do not need to examine Elias or discuss management
  • You do not need to summarise your findings to the examiner
  • The examiner will ask you questions at the end.

ChoiceHub writes these stations itself, from the ground up, across a wide range of clinical topics. They are not official exam material, and no university has written, reviewed or endorsed them. “Recommended for” only suggests the year and exam format a station suits.
