Instructions

You are an intern in the emergency department. Your next patient is Danilo Lacson, 52, who has vomited a large amount of fresh blood twice in the last hour at home. The paramedics have just brought him in.

  1. Assess and manage Danilo using an A to E approach

  2. Outline to the examiner:

    • Your most likely diagnosis
    • Next steps in management, including relevant investigations
  • The examiner acts as the nurse and carries out your instructions; describe procedures rather than performing them
  • You do not need to take a full history
  • You do not need to summarise your findings
