Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 October 2026

ChoiceHub (“we”, “us”) is a free study site for medical students: practice questions, timed mock exams, OSCE stations and timers, and learning pages, at choicehub.co. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the site, and what you can ask us to do. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture from Google. We give you a nickname, which is what other people see.
  • What you do on the site. Questions you answer and whether you were right, practice sessions, favourites, and OSCE attempts.
  • Mock exams. Your answers, highlights, crossed-out and flagged options, timings, any exam adjustments you choose (such as extra time or rest breaks), and your score.
  • Your university, state and year, if you choose to add them, so you can compare your mock exam results with others. This is optional.
  • Things you create or send us. Questions you write, comments, reports and appeals, and question files you upload for your own mock exams.
  • Technical information. Pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location from your IP address, collected by our analytics tools.

How we use it

  • To run your account and sign you in, including emailing you sign-in codes.
  • To save your progress, so you can pause a mock exam and pick it up on another device.
  • To show you your results and how they compare with others (see below).
  • To read questions out of files you upload, using an AI model (see below).
  • To keep the site safe, fix problems, and understand which parts are used so we can improve them.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Comparing with your cohort

If you add your university and year, your first attempt at each official mock exam is included in group figures shown to other people: averages and how many people scored below a given result. Only groups of at least five people from the same university and year are ever counted, so no one can work out an individual's score. Your name, nickname and individual answers are never shown to anyone else. You can change your university and year at any time, or ask us to remove them.

Files you upload

When you upload a question file (a PDF, Word document or photos of pages), its text, or images of its pages if it is scanned, is sent to an AI model to find the questions, options and answers. We use OpenRouter, which passes it to the company running the model (currently Xiaomi's MiMo model, hosted by Xiaomi or a similar provider). They process it only to return the questions to us. The questions you save are stored in your account and only you can see them. Please only upload material you have the right to use, and don't upload anything containing patient information.

Who helps us run ChoiceHub

We share information with these services only as far as they need it to do their job for us:

  • Supabase: our database and sign-in system, where your account and progress are stored.
  • Google: “Continue with Google” sign-in, and Google Analytics for site usage.
  • Plausible: privacy-friendly site analytics without tracking cookies.
  • Resend: sends our emails, such as sign-in codes.
  • AI model providers (through OpenRouter, or directly with companies such as OpenAI, Google or Anthropic): reading uploaded files, and AI features in OSCE practice such as the practice patient and feedback.
  • Cloudflare and our hosting server: deliver the website to you securely.
  • Stripe: would process payments if we offer paid features. We never see or store your card number.

Some of these companies store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Asia. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to Australian law.

Cookies and storage on your device

We use cookies to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your theme, font and text-size choices, and a copy of a mock exam in progress so nothing is lost if you lose connection. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits; you can block them in your browser settings without affecting how the site works.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and its history while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep something by law. Questions you published may stay on the site without your name attached.

Your choices and rights

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct it, or to delete your account.
  • Change your university and year, ask us to remove them, or stop using uploads, at any time.
  • Complain to us, and if you're not satisfied with our answer, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Email [email protected] and we'll reply within 30 days.

Security

Information travels encrypted, and our database only lets each person see their own private data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

Children

ChoiceHub is for university students and graduates. It isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you by email or on the site.
