A 71-year-old man noticed slurred speech 90 minutes ago while watching television and his wife drove him straight in. He speaks with a mild slur that is fully intelligible, swallows water without difficulty, has full power and coordination in all four limbs, and has walked unaided to the toilet since arriving. Blood glucose is 6.2 mmol/L and blood pressure is 152/84 mmHg. Non-contrast computed tomography shows no haemorrhage; computed tomography angiography shows no large vessel occlusion.
