Acute Carecommon
A 24-year-old man is brought in by ambulance after his motorcycle struck a guardrail. His left leg is partly amputated below the knee and bright blood is welling through the ambulance dressings despite firm pressure and packing. He is agitated and will not lie still. Radial pulse 130/min, blood pressure 76/40 mmHg, oxygen saturation 96% on 15 L/min. The pelvis is tender and there is bruising over the left flank. Two large-bore cannulas are in and the massive transfusion protocol has been activated. Which one of the following should be done before the others?
