A 65-year-old man with a history of severe myopia presents to the emergency room with a sudden onset of flashes of light and floaters in his left eye. He describes a "curtain" descending over his vision, which has progressively worsened over the past few hours. He does not report any pain, and his eye appears normal on inspection. Visual acuity is severely reduced, and a fundoscopic examination is shown.
