Three shocks have been delivered singly at the biphasic defibrillator's maximum energy, with the self-adhesive pads in the anterolateral position. He remains in coarse ventricular fibrillation after the third shock and the end-tidal carbon dioxide is 22 mmHg. Which one of the following may now be considered?
