A 24-year-old man with schizophrenia has been prescribed risperidone 6 mg daily for eight weeks since his first admission. He still hears two voices commenting on him for several hours most days, and his mother says he is exactly as he was on discharge. He has no tremor, no restlessness, no sedation, and has gained no weight. He has not used cannabis since discharge and a urine drug screen is negative. Serum prolactin is 260 mIU/L (55 to 400).
