A 27-year-old man with schizophrenia has taken amisulpride 1200 mg daily for ten weeks and, before that, olanzapine 20 mg daily for twelve weeks. Both were given as supervised doses in a residential rehabilitation unit, so no dose was missed. He remains preoccupied with the belief that his housemates are poisoning the water tank, and shouts at them most nights. He uses no alcohol or other drugs, his thyroid function and full blood count are normal, and two consultants have reviewed the diagnosis. Which one of the following should now be recommended?
