A 26-year-old woman has presented to the emergency department nine times in two years after cutting her forearms. She describes chronic emptiness, intense and unstable relationships, and mood that swings within hours; she has never had a sustained depressive or manic episode. Over those two years she has accumulated quetiapine, sertraline and sodium valproate, each begun during a crisis presentation, and she continues to cut. Tonight the cuts are superficial, she denies suicidal intent, and she is calm after suturing. Which one of the following should now be arranged?
