A 34-year-old man with schizophrenia has relapsed twice in nine months, on each occasion a few weeks after stopping his oral risperidone. He is currently well, lives with his mother, attends every appointment with his case manager and says he wants to stay out of hospital, but explains that once he feels better he sees no reason to keep swallowing tablets.
